Mission Statement
  • To provide a weekly swimming session in Watford for people with a disability and their families.
  • To ensure that membership of the Club is open to people with all types of disability including both permanent and temporary disabilities.
  • To provide trained helpers to:

              + Provide assistance where needed in both the water and in the changing                          rooms.

               + Organise a range of fun and therapeutic activities in the pool.

               + Ensure that the swimming sessions are safe

  • To provide a range of related activities such as swimming galas tailored to people with a disability.
  • To provide a range of social activities to promote friendship between the Clubs members.
  • To gain the greatest possible awareness of the Club amongst the local community.

Child and Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy Statement

The Sea Lion Swimming Club is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children, young people and vulnerable persons to practice swimming

We do this by:
  • Recognizing  that all children and vulnerable persons have the right to freedom from abuse.
  • Ensuring that all our volunteers are carefully selected and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of children and vulnerable persons in their care.
  • Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions or allegations of abuse, and by providing parents, carers, children and vulnerable persons the opportunity to voice any concerns they may have.
  • Appointing a Child Protection Officer who will take specific responsibility for child safety and act as the main point of contact for parents, carers, children and vulnerable persons and outside agencies.
  • Ensuring access to confidential information is restricted to the Child Protection Officer or the appropriate external authorities.
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of our Child and Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy and activities each year at the Annual General Meeting.
